The recent research and development of a jute agro-composite is seen as a solution to a global ecological emergency.

This jute fiber eco-material is an environmentally friendly alternative to fiberglass.

Fiberglass is widely used for building, shipbuilding, transport... and for reinforcement of various materials like surfboards. These new eco-materials may substitute these applications, in addition, they offer many advantages, apart from being of important ecological impact,  they respond to local economic and social need too, and thereby benefit the local population.  Eco-materials can replace completely or partially the fibreglass usually used in composite making.

While fiberglass is expensive and high in pollution, jute is a plant that abundantly grows in the Bengal region, is light, resistant, biodegradable and cheap fiber.

Recently, surfboard shapers, who build and design surfboards by hand, have incorporated in their manufacture natural materials such as bamboo and jute fiber. These eco-materials enjoy considerable success! Surfboards covered by bamboo or jute fiber are very attractive and competitive products. These natural fibers have demonstrated highly efficacious results.

Bamboo is qualified as "the natural carbon fiber" because of its environmentally friendly and economic properties. The bamboo or jute surfboards are hand shaped using eco-friendly materials to produce a board that is extremely light, flexible and more durable. This new eco-material is not only a strong natural material relative to its weight, but is highly performant, cheap, resistant and and look naturally attractive.

It’s important to know that fiberglass emits 140 tons of CO2 when produced whereas jute fiber is absorbing CO2 while growing in fields.

Jute fibre is 100% biodegradable and recyclable and thus environmentally friendly. A hectare of jute plants consumes about 15 tonnes of carbon dioxide and releases 11 tonnes of oxygen. Jute does not generate toxic gases when burnt.

Advantages of jute include good insulating and antistatic properties, as well as having low thermal conductivity and moderate moisture retention.

Known as the ‘Golden fibre’ jute is considered as the natural fiber of the future.

Surfboards made of jute fiber provide a homogeneous and enjoyable aspect.

A new way of using jute! An innovative high value article.
