Burlap is back in fashion!

Jute curtains and upholstery are back in fashion! Get a rustic atmosphere and stylish decor.

How to wash jute fabric?

Burlap must be washed carefully in cold water, burlap may unravel if handled too roughly.

Hand washing

Hand wash is recommended for small finished hessian pieces.

Wash with cold water, given that warm water could shrink the textile.

Use a gentle liquid detergent for delicate textiles.

Soak the hessian cloth for 5 minutes (no more).

Slowly stir the fabric with your hands to make dirt disappear.

Rinse well under cold running water.

Do not twist or squeeze the cloth as you may damage or distort the fabric.

Dry flat between 2 towels, change the towels as needed until the moisture has been soaked up.

Machine washing

Note that machine washes are rougher than hand washes, washing machine should be  avoided for delicate  burlap pieces.

Set the machine to a delicate program with cold water using a gentle liquid detergent.

To make burlap softer, you can add a liquid fabric softener.

Dry burlap by air. Drape the material over 2 chairs and let it dry for several hours.

For a best result, iron when damp.

How to remove stains from a upholstery jute fabric?

You should use vacuum cleaner to remove dust from upholstery before attempting to remove the stain, you will avoid possible streaks difficult to make disappear.

Dip a sponge in cold water with ammonia and blot out any visible stains on the cloth.

Tip: If stain persists, you can recover your upholstery by painting over your own pattern rather than remove your decoration.
